It’s a new year which means that it’s time for personal resolutions…AND new design trends. All the BIG furniture and home accessories markets are being held this month (and in February). This is where all the designers and retail store owners go to see what is up and coming. (I’m not sure exactly who decides what we will be doing for our 2010 decor but I’m told that it’s planned well in advance and usually has some type of ”global” influence or theme.)
So according to these unknown experts-here’s what’s in for 2010…
Purple in all hues-like lavender and violet
(and turquoise, bright greens, blues,….)
Pillows with “bling” like stitching, beads and fringe
Florals with burnt orange, bright yellows and golds, deeps reds and burgundy
Greenery (Plants) that look natural from the garden
Understated “chic”
Mixing the old with the new… upholstered fabrics like linen with rustic or old (or old looking) case pieces
“RE” Furniture and accessories: re-purposed, reclaimed, recycled
Small artwork: canveses and framed prints especially original artwork
Cozy warm chenille throws in all colors
Metallic and embellished wallpapers
Tone-on-tone damask
Crystal on all sort of decor items
Photo frames
Antique chairs upholstered with modern fabrics.
I’m beginning to think that the ”IN”spiration for 2010 is one that goes way back…
