Chocolate Drop Cookies
When I was a little girl, my Mother often made these cookies. I loved eating them and thought that you could take this one cookie recipe and do a few variations.
Ingredients:
¼ cup butter or margarine-softened
¼ cup shortening
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
2-1 ounce unsweetened chocolate squares-melted
1 ¾ cup flour
½ teaspoon soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup milk
Optional: ½ cup nuts-chopped
Directions:
In a mixing bowl combine the softened butter or margarine, shortening, and sugar. Mix until creamy. Add egg and vanilla until mixed. Slowly add the melted chocolate.
Then sift together the flour, soda and salt. Once sifted, alternate adding the sifted flour mixture and the milk to the above.
Once mixed drop the cookie dough on to a cookie sheet that has been lightly sprayed with a non-stick spray. ( Make cookies approximately 1 inch in size.)
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Remove from pan and allow cookies to cool before frosting.
