I’ve Got The Blues…

It’s true-I’ve got the blues. Whenever I’m a little down in the dumps I lift my spirits by dreaming about my future. I apologize to all of you “live in the moment” people but I’ve found that living in my little fantasy world is a great way to cope with stress. I prefer to think that I’m actually putting the idea “out there” so that the universe will deliver.

Lately, I’ve been thinking, planning and researching ideas for my future home that’s near water {thinking about the beach with the sound of waves crashing outside my open bedroom windows is very relaxing}. Inside my little head I’ve visualized how I want it to look. And turquoise blue-which is a color that I never thought I’d love-is going to be used in my beach house. Whether you use a little or a lot of it in your decor-it’s very bold, bright and  refreshing color.  And I love how it looks when paired with a white pallette. This color really lifts my spirits and makes me feel happy!

Paint an accent wall, add a vase, light fixture or rug in this color. It doesn’t have to be a lot of turqoise in order to really add some drama to your room. This kitchen does turquoise perfectly.

Don’t want to commit to adding too much of this color? Then I suggest adding a piece of furniture in this color to your decor. And I love how great turquoise looks with yellow and green.

How about a fabric covered headboard. It really pops with the bead board walls-which every beach house needs to have in at least one room. {P.S. How cute is the daisy covered shade?}

Glassware is another way to use add turquoise into your decor. I love the idea that I can start collecting some eclectic and unique pieces whenever I visit market or if I do a trip to one of our local antique/thrift stores.

I love these chairs. There’s something about the texture of the fabric on the chairs and the velveteen pillows that’s so appealing to me. All that’s missing in this room is a big bowl of seashells on the round table.

There will have to be a room in my beach house that has wallpaper. I’m not sure if it will be the master bedroom, a bathroom or….

…The dining room. And how fun would it be to use different colored chairs around the dining room table?

So the next time you’re feeling a little blue-may I suggest that you try my method of lifting your spirits. One of my favorite blogs is House of Turquoise where you can find everything in this color. Like this bedding ensemble.

P.S. I just found this picture as I was finishing my post. I couldn’t help myself I had to show you how wonderful this sofa is. And the wall behind it is incredible. I feel so happy now!

Alyson - Where do you think I could find the wallpaper in Picture #6? I have searched all over the internet and can’t find anything with a pattern similar to that one.
