Today gift wrapping comes in small packages and with some small friends. This is my ode to Ladybugs and my childhood nickname.
What a Monday! Today has left me wondering how I’m going to get through the rest of the week. The list of things to do keeps getting longer and loooooooonger. This morning I found myself rushing as fast as I could to get my gift wrapping post done and out of the way. I rushed wrapping a box with wrapping paper. I rushed tying on toppers. I rushed taking pictures.
When I finally uploaded the photos and began sorting through the pictures, I was frustrated to see they looked terrible. The wrapping paper was rippling because I did a sloppy job, there were pieces of tape everywhere, and the toppers looked ridiculous. As I sat staring at my computer screen, a thought entered my mind… “What Would Debbie Do?” It was like a punch to the stomach. Would Debs ever give a gift that looked like this to friend? Would Debbie ever let the wrapping paper ripple? Would Debs ever consider giving a gift with an ugly gift topper on top? The answer to all of these thoughts were NO… nay NEVER EVER EVER NEVER!
Being Debbie’s daughter, I could not get myself to post my frenzied attempts at being creative. So tired and annoyed, I started over. With new box, new paper, and new toppers I began to work. As I slowly wrapped and embellished I interestingly noted my change of attitude. I began to really enjoy what I was doing. Most importantly I began to really care.
The most important part of gift giving and gift wrapping is caring.
