Fashion to Design: An Inspiration Necklace

It’s not every day I come across a fashion piece that sparks inspiration for home design. However, when Keighley (she seems to be my go-to source lately) showed me this bold, hot pink necklace I had a major design epiphany. Not only that, but I am finally growing very fond of this color.

I immediately envisioned femininity, peaches, hot-pinks, bold shapes and textures, etc. I saw some rooms using the bright color as statements, and other rooms using it in hints…

I love the above left photo and how they used hot pink on the wall art and a couple pillows, while focusing on the softer peach and pink hues for the rest of the room.

Personally, I think I would use the hottest of pinks in small doses, while keeping the peach and pale pinks muted and soft. On the contrary, I do think the hot pink kitchen cabinets  (see below, top-right picture) could be wildly fun. I don’t know if most husbands would agree to it though. It’s definitely a bit shocking.

By the way, I’m looking for a way to get my hands on the rug in the below left photo. Has anyone seen it anywhere? This room could possibly be my favorite (I may be biased because of the rug).

How would you use the color hot pink in your home? Big and bold, or soft and muted?

Ann Burr - I love that necklace – where’s it from?? And I want that pink and gold wallpaper for my foyer – but I don’t think I’ll be able to sell the hubs on it – what is it with boys and pink?! Great post :)

Megan A. - I LOVE the little hints of pink! I think my favorites (besides your fav) are the desk with the pink lamp shade and the first photo with the pink pillows! Great stuff. Someday when I have a real home I will try to incorporate some pink hues.

keighley - Meg- I agree. When I see rooms like this I start to dream of my “one day” house.
