The most consistent thing in my life right now seems to be Christmas crafting and tree-scented candles. I should probably reign in the Christmas a bit and enjoy a little more pumpkin spice before its too late…
In the meantime, I wanted to give you readers a ‘heads-up’ about some Reading Tree Rings at Michaels. These cardboard tree cutouts can be found (at least in AZ) in the $1 and under bins at your local Michaels. I believe I got my pack for $.79!
Although these are intended to be used for some-sort of reading activity, I thought they were perfect for Christmas garlands! I’m not completely finished with my garland, however I thought I’d share the first three steps… from now until I finish, go hunt down some of these cutouts for yourself!
First, I took the trees off of the reading ring. Second, I stenciled on some snowflakes with FolkArt Wicker White crafting paint. Third, I brushed the backside with my Sparkle Mod Podge followed by a pinch of Martha Stewart’s tinsel glitter.
Now all I need to do, is find the perfect ribbon! I’m also contemplating using these as ornaments on a Christmas Tree that Michael has decided he’d like to do. Only time will tell.
Special Note: You must get Sparkle Mod Podge for your Christmas crafting. Plaid has been gracious enough to donate some amazing product to a future crafting event… stay tuned for details!
