Decorating the Nursery

As I mentioned last week, Dallan and I finally cleared out our extra bedroom and started getting it ready for the baby. Once everything was out of the room, and I had a clean slate to work with, I froze.  I couldn’t decide what direction I wanted to take the room decor.  I love so many styles and there are so many ways I could play with the room color… what to do?

Naturally I turned to the internet as a source of inspiration.  I tried to find a rug to use as a starting inspiration point.  Fail. I tried to find some fun art I could use as a starting inspiration point.  Fail. I found hundreds of things that I loved, but nothing was making me squeal inside.  That is until I found this Themis Crib Mobile (designed by Carla Von Zweigbergk).

Themis Crib Mobile for Nursery

There is something about the shapes and colors of this mobile that struck a chord with me, so I decided this would be my starting point.  Since then, decorations have started to fall into place.  Take a look at some of the loot I have being shipped here (or I’ve got to go pick up).

Now the last piece of the decor puzzle is to find some artwork.  Since I’m purchasing a long picture shelf (05. pictured above), I’d like to fill it with a mixture of geometric art, animal prints, floral paintings… Here are a few things I’ve found but I’m not sold on any of them yet.  What do you guys think?  Yay?  Nay?  Any other suggestions?

Jessica - I LOVE the mobile! What a great find and the high contrast of the colors are going to be fabulous for baby. I think the alphabet artwork would look beautiful with it. Lucky baby to have such a fun room!

mel - I love the whale, besides being cute it will balance all the strait edges ya got going on with the rest of the.stuff. I saw somewhere on stay too where they had cute “A” is for Apple and etc….

BeccaMarie - First all, that rocking chair looks so comfortable, and I love the color. I also love that rug! But on those prints, all I can say is good luck. I have never seen anything so sweet as that whale, and I absolutely love alphabet art, so I have no way of helping :)
But they would look nice side by side!

Brenna - Hey Camberley! I bought that ikea shelf a few weeks ago. Highly recommend it! For being a cheeper ikea shelf its really heavy and sturdy! I actually wondered if it could be turned into a changing table (its a little too low). Everything else is super cute! Love the alphabet print!
