Update: Decorating the Nursery

Things are starting to come together in the baby’s room.  Dallan and I finally rearranged furniture, hung shelves, organized clothes, and placed her toys in the toy box.  Seeing it all come together is kind of surreal.  I can’t believe she’ll be making her appearance next month.  Although I’m overjoyed about her impending arrival, every once in a while I have a minor freak out over the fact that my life is never going to be the same.  Dallan and I are so use to our comfortable little life with just two of us (plus the dogs, birds, fish, and plants). We come and go when we please, work and play as long as we’d like, and sleep in on weekends.  I know our lives are about to be turned upside down and the thought of change is making me emotional. Or maybe it’s the hormones…. Are these feelings normal, or should I be concerned?

I thought I’d post a brief sneak peek picture of her Nursery.  I still need to purchase prints/paintings for the shelves above her crib, so for now I have a random smattering of knick knacks and artwork.

Now that you see where I’m going with her room decor, do you guys have any more suggestions on artwork? Once the rug and curtains arrive, I’ll post pictures of the other areas in her room.

Jessica - It’s really coming along nicely, Cammie! So cool and sophisticated but still fun and playful. She’s a lucky girl! And yes, how you’re feeling is absolutely normal. I was a decidedly unemotional person pre-pregnancy and the impending life change made me super emotional, especially there at the end. And I hate to tell you, my dear, but for me that new emotionality never completely disappeared. Motherhood seems to color every experience you have from the moment you first find out you’re pregnant. Nothing will ever be the same again and it certainly won’t be easy, but it will be more wonderful than you ever could have imagined.

Former (!)nSingle Mom Seeking - As Jessica said so well, your feelings are SO normal!! Everyone says “congratulations” when you have your baby… but few people talk about the real fears. It is a huge change. How great that you have loving family nearby when you need a moment to breathe.
I love the colors in your nursery!
