I’ve been trying to avoid parabens as much as possible lately, which is much easier said than done…they are in everything, ugh! I first noticed that they were in my face wash, and the idea of splashing possible cancer-causing agents onto my face twice daily made me want to call up the manufacturer and scream obscenities. That would be silly, however, because then I would have to also call up my deodorant, make up, and lotion people too.
So, I’m tackling this bit by bit. I have switched out my face wash with an all natural cream wash and my moisturizer with coconut oil. I have loved it more than anticipated! So, I decided to throw some more ingredients into the coconut oil to create an exfoliating body scrub to use in the shower. Here’s what I have come up with:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sea salt or kosher salt
- Zest of one lemon (or use a clementine!)
- 2 teaspoons rosemary
- ½ cup coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon tea tree oil (I used a little more—I love the stuff)
Directions:
Add the lemon zest and rosemary to the salt. Put ingredients into a clean jar. Pour coconut oil and tea tree into the jar, and mix. Place a tight fitting lid on top to keep fresh. When you open it for future use, you will need to stir the mix. Enjoy!
