What makes Fall so beautiful are the changing colors of the leaves and the way they decorate the ground everywhere you look. Here is a way to enjoy the season by creating art with those gorgeous leaves on the ground and painting them to use for decoration. Unfortunately, here in Arizona, we don’t get much of a Fall until later in the year – and even then it is very short. If you haven’t experienced falling leaves yet, you can use fake leaves like we did. This is a very simple and inexpensive activity that is exciting for kids as well as adults.
- Real or fake leaves
- Acrylic paint
- String or twine
- Collect some leaves from your backyard or around the neighborhood. If you live in a dry area where the leaves don’t fall until December, you can use fake leaves like we did.
- Lay out the leaves and paint them. Paint half of a leaf one color, leaving the other half to show off the natural color, or create your own design. Continue this until all of the leaves are painted.
- Let them dry.
- Tie the leaves to mugs and bowls to create a fall centered place setting. Lay the excess leaves out on the table to create a freshly fallen look around your place setting. Use your imagination to decorate around the house in other ways as well.
