Link to Celebrating Blog Day with “My Little Corner Of The World”

My Little Corner of the World is delightful little blog written, designed and inspired by Angela Hardison.  Angela Hardison is a “lover, designer, dreamer” who documents her life, her work (seesaw designs), her letterpress and her vintage shop.

Take a step inside Angela’s Little Corner Of The World

Today, we will be going on a tour of Angela’s: home, letterpress shop, and vintage etsy store.  (Please note: all of the images we’re about to see where photographed by Angela. Talk about talent!)

HOME

Being a danish mid-century modern furniture collector myself, it wasn’t hard for me to fall in love with the furniture and art pieces in Angela’s house.  One of my favorite pieces, is her bedroom set.  I love the color and lines of her headboard and endtables.  Additionally, I love how she’s used two different styles/colors of lamps to bring shape, height and color into her bedroom.

Here are some things I love about this next space: paint color, vintage oil painting above piano, danish stacking tables in corner, Milk Glass bookends, Penguin books and, of course, the piano!

I love all of the little details Angela puts into her design.  For example, in the following picture, she has a vase filled with colored pencils on top of a pedestal.  Or, note the small blue car on top of her letterpress tray. She’s even placed a small red oval mirror behind the wooden mannequin (next to the typewriter). Want me to keep going? I love the numbered glasses on the top shelf of her bookcase.  The clear glasses doesn’t detract from the decor; however, the yellow and blue numbers bring in some subtle colors.  Do you notice other details?

LETTERPRESS SHOP (SEESAW LETTERPRESS)

Here are a few of Angela’s letterpress pieces (SeeSaw Letterpress) that I simply adore: Modern Wall Calendar, i think you’re neat., Ice Cream, On A String.  Angela, are you working on a 2011 calendar? Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes!

Link to Celebrating Blog Day With Simply Seductive~

All of us girls here at the Bella Life love Simply Seductive. The Simply Seductive blog has been a favorite of ours for over a year (it was one of the first blogs on our Fashion Favorites List). Simply Seductive is not a blog filled with 700+ word posts or loud and obnoxious dialogue, (umm that sounds strangely like our own blog… ha) it simply captures your attention and lets you escape. You’ll get lost looking at the inspirations highlighted on Simply Seductive before you know it… and then you will realize you’ve been browsing for 45 minutes and you need to switch the laundry and your dog wants to go out and you’re really really thirsty…. true story.

Simply Seductive writes, “I love Champagne, chocolate truffles, traveling, movies, playing tennis, martinis, treasure hunting, high tea and daydream of being a glamorous nomad living in a custom decorated Airstream.” uhhh look no further people! This is a woman/blog for the MASSES!

1.) who doesn’t love traveling?

2.) treasure hunting should be a requirement!

3.) she wants a custom decorated Airstream!?

Anyways, over at Simply Seductive you will not only find amazing images and worth-while reads BUT she has a *For Your Perusal* list that makes browsing extra fantastic! Here are the catagories.

*Noteworthy Covers *In the Spotlight *Interiors *Destinations *Inspirational Quotes *Shoe Love *Colour Inspirations *A Moment in Time *Fashion Editorials *Details *Lovely and Unrelated

Today we will be highlighting tree posts from Simply Seductive; Inspiration:{Designer’s Atelier + A Wedding Boudoir} , Inspiration: {Chanel ~ Couture Fall 2010}, and Canadiana Explosion.

{Designer’s Atelier + A Wedding Boudoir}

( I stumbled upon these photographs of Maria Lucia Hohan‘s atelier to discovered the photographs were taken by the Cherry Blossom Girl, which when I visited her blog realized she was recently married in a dress made by Maria Lucia Hohan, yet designed by the Cherry Blossom Girl herself.)

I just had to repost this because it’s heaven. I want to drape myself in all of those dresses/garments. ~ Keighley side commentary

{Chanel~ Couture Fall 2010}

I adore couture, especially Chanel couture

Canadiana Explosion

Canadian Photographer (Chris Nicholls), a Canadian model (Heather Marks) shot for a Canadian Flare magazine… talk about national talent! I soooo love these images. Ms Marks looks so different, her make-up and the styling is fantastic. Check out that coat, with raccoon fur trim, matched with a silk/ostrich-feathered dress and the boots… Source, Chris Nicholls Photography.

Ohhhhh Canadaaaaaa! These images are simply SEDUCTIVE.

(I want that giant plaid skirt so bad I could to scream. I would wear it to all of my classes on the days lecture revolved around the Scots! ~keighley side commentary

Link to Celebrating Blog Day with Cafe Lynnylu

Cafe Lynnylu is another delicious blog filled to the brim with yummy recipe ideas.  The photos Lynne takes of her food are so beautiful, one can practically feel and smell the steam coming through ones computer screen.  Someday, I wish to have half of the photography skills Lynne and Helen (Tartelette) have.  Okay. Fine, I’ll settle for a quarter of the skill they have.

Here are a few recipes from Lynne (the Georgia based writer, foodie and photographer behind Cafe Lynnylu).

Grilled Summer Vegetable Focaccia

Cafe Lynnylu (Grilled Vegetable Focaccia)

For the Bread Machine Dough

2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
3 teaspoons sugar
1 1/3 cups warm water (105°F)
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cups bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt

Place yeast, sugar, warm water, flour, olive oil, dried oregano and salt in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by manufacturer and process on the dough cycle. When cycle is complete, remove dough from pan. Let rest covered for a few minutes before preparing the focaccia. Can be made ahead-remove to container and refrigerate for several hours or until ready to assemble focaccia.

For the Grilled Vegetables

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 medium zucchini, cut into 1/4-inch slices
1 red bell pepper, seeded and quartered
1 red onion, cut into 1/4-inch slices
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
thinly sliced fresh basil, optional

Preheat gas grill on high with grill basket on grate. Combine oil and balsamic vinegar in a small bowl. Brush oil over the zucchini, bell pepper and onion. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. When ready to grill, place vegetables in grill basket and grill for 4-6 minutes. Use a hot pad to remove basket from grill.  Cut bell pepper quarters into 1/4-inch strips. Set aside until ready to assemble focaccia.

To Assemble and Bake Focaccia

Place PizzaQue Stone in a cold oven and preheat to 450°F. Generously sprinkle a wooden peel with cornmeal. Hand stretch dough or roll out on oiled waxed paper until desired size. Invert dough onto peel.  Arrange grilled vegetables evenly over surface. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Slide dough carefully onto stone in oven. Reduce heat to 425°F. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden. Remove from oven. Transfer to a wooden board. Cool for a few minutes. Cut into desired pieces. Serves 6 generously.

Blueberry Banana Smoothie

Cafe Lynnylu (Blueberry Banana Smoothie)

1/4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
3/4 cup 0% Greek yogurt
1 cup apple juice
1 medium banana, sliced in the 1-1-1/2 inch pieces
2 tablespoons wheat germ
1-2 tsp honey

Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Alternatively, use a hand blender to puree ingredients. Makes about 2-1/2-3 cups. Serves 2-4.

Link to Celebrating Blog Day with Viva Full House

When I visit Viva Full House Blog, I often have to clean the drool off my keyboard. I kid. I kid. (That’s a little gross and I’m too classy for that). Anyways, the content of her blog is close to flawless- it may even be flawless. Christina has such impeccable style when it comes to home decor. When I see pictures of her home, I have to fight the urge not to throw out or burn everything in my living room, kitchen and bedrooms. I have to start chanting things repetitively to calm myself down… “Kiersten you’ve only been married 8 months. You live in a Sky Rise apartment and it’s not so easy to get furnishing up 32 flights of stairs. Kiersten your time will come. Don’t spend the money decorating this tiny apartment who knows where you’ll be in 6 months.” Get the point? I can’t help that my feng shui starts to look like scrap compared to her amazing taste.  Every room has it’s own personality. Christina at Viva Full House not only rocks in the Home Decor department but she makes some of the most amazing crafts imaginable. She has CRAZY style and everything she does is inspiring. Last but definitely not least, Christina of Viva Full House has the most GORGEOUS family…what a gene pool!!!  {Is it me or does this seem to be a common characteristic among our blog highlightees?} Us Bella Girls actually grew up in the same neighborhood as Christina so of course we love to stalk her blog for multiple reasons and we know you will too.

(Stunning right?)

(I had to include this picture. I think it is so perfect.)

Christina’s Personal Bio:

The title Full House pretty much sums up my life. If you’ve ever played with dice or the game Yahtzee then possibly you’ve rolled a Full House. As luck would have it in the game of life I rolled out twin girls and triplet boys. What am I doing blogging…I should be in Vegas winning money for diapers. If I really hit the jackpot I’d hire Uncle Joey and Uncle Jesse to move in and help out. Oh and I like to associate life’s happenings with home decor. I like parties & to fit in a craft every once in a while.

And now we visit…….. Her HOUSE!

1st stop, the girls room.

This my friends is how Christina from Viva Full House does a room for a whopping $250. Serious. To learn more about how she did this amazing room click HERE!

2nd stop, the Living Room!

Finally the Family Room

Wouldn’t you love to have her design your own home? Me too.

I leave you now with one of Viva Full House’s most genius crafts, Crowns for your Crown.

Want to make a crown?  Perhaps for a little girls birthday party, or just because…

You need to start out with some lace pieces.  There is a gold leafing liquid located by all of the leafing supplies @ either Micheals or JoAnns.  Really all you will need are paintbrushes, wax paper, modge podge, gold acrylic paint and the gold leafing paint (gold leafing paint really gives the crown a metallic finish). Place your lace on the wax paper.

Then paint it with the acrylic paint.  After it has dried on both sides, then Modge Podge it.  You will want to apply at least 3 coats. Make sure to fully saturate. the lace. After it  is dry, bust out the gold leafing liquid and apply.  Once dried you can attach some ribbon with heavy duty craft glue and some of the velcro circles to help keep the crown in place.

Once the craft glue has dried and the velcro is in place… GO WILD!
