I was helping a friend of mine come up with some Thanksgiving Day Kids’ Craft ideas this morning and I stumbled on Disney’s FamilyFun site. I’m sure some of our mommy readers have been to this site. I, on the other hand, am a FamilyFun novice. This site overflows with Kids’ Crafts, Recipes, Playtime and Party ideas. Spectacular!
Here is a run-down of my favorite FamilyFun Thanksgiving Kids’ Craft Ideas. (Please note: I tried to find crafts that looked easier to do with little ones.)
Turkey Place Cards – this craft only uses four materials (ink, blank place cards, markers and little fingers!)
Make-Your-Own-Hat-Station - I love how they’ve used a black paper cup as the base for this hat. Talk about easy!
Thanksgiving Turkey Luminaries – These luminaries are lit with LED tea lights so parents don’t need to worry about their children playing with the finished masterpiece.
Thanksgiving Dinner Headband - This little craft got me chuckling and I’m sure it will get the little ones giggling as well.
Now, some of you Mommies (and Daddies) may be looking for Thanksgiving Table Games to keep your little ones entertained while you indulge in Turkey and Pumpkin Pie.
Activity Thanksgiving Placemat – This fun placemat is easy to print (click here for the template). Just add crayons and you’ve bought yourself 2-5 minutes of indulgence.
I am Thankful for – Have your older kids take time to write out what they’re thankful for on Thanksgiving. The younger ones could draw a picture. (click here for the template)

Today was the big day! Our Mr. Potato Throat got his tonsils removes, adenoids removed and ear tubes put in. Here he is in his hospital gown. Ooh la la!
According to Johnny – the anesthesiologist made little Grady a dog balloon animal, tied a balloon leash around it and said “Grady, let’s take the doggy for a walk”. Happily, Grady complied. Then, our little Darth Vadar walked that balloon animal right into the surgery room like a champ!
All in all, he is doing well. Johnny said he’s been in and out of sleep all day and, the moments when he has been awake, he hasn’t mentioned any pain. If all goes well, he may even be released tonight!
Yay for recovery!

Sources closest to Poulsen, 31, say she’s an “Emotional Wreck” and “Scared” about going through with the surgery for 2 year old son, Grady!
Giggles. I was just reading US online and thought “why do they always quote celebrities like that?” And, “why do they have to put their ages next to their names? All. The. Time.” Weird.
Anyways, it’s happening. Mr. Potato throat is going to get those nasty tonsils out. No more Darth Vadar jokes, no more stinky breath, no more choking, no more sleep apnea and no more “What’d you say, mom?”. In addition to a nasty throat, poor Grady has had fluid in his ears for months and we just can’t get rid of it!
So, after $200 in co-pays and 3 specialists later – we are doing it. The same doctor who, 28 years ago, put tubes in Johnny’s ears will be doing the surgery. She will be removing Grady’s tonsils, adenoids and putting in ear tubes.
Here is a picture of G-Man. Obviously happy waiting to be seen by one of the 3 docs who’s name we won’t mentioned. We waited in this waiting room for 1.5 hours. This is also where I picked up my nasty cold/sinus infection that lasted 3+ weeks. Argh!
Everyday I have been writing down things I need to get done, even though the surgery is still two weeks away. I’m a planner. If the date is set for something, I have everything planned out ASAP! Clothes packed, snacks in little baggies, and usually an itinerary/list for the “babysitter”. I’m glad I have such supportive family members. Everyone has already stepped up and asked where they can help and believe you me, they will. Keighley, your guest room is already set up and ready for you! Ha Ha!
Right now, my list includes items like:
-
“Cami can take Trey to preschool Friday morning and pick up”
-
“Can Trey stay the night at G-Deb’s Thursday night?
-
“Who will be taking Trey to his Sat. am baseball game?”
Intense, right?
Oh, by the way, did I tell you that Grady has to stay overnight at Desert Banner Hospital? Yep.
Have I mentioned - when I asked if Grady will have his own room that night, they said they “we’re not sure, it depends on how crowded it is.”
Did I tell you – when I asked for a bed for Preggers Muah, they said, “oh will you be staying the night too?”. Duh! My son is 2. She then told me they have a recliner. Ah yes, the old recliner. My husband knows this chair all too well. He never slept in it while I had my babies. He’d go home to be a bit more comfy. Lucky me, I handled the first night with a newborn, alone. Sigh! I can’t wait to sleep on a nasty old leather recliner with my pregnant, uncomfortable self.
The sacrifices we mothers make.
If you can look past the beauty of my MIL and the adorableness of my newborn baby, Grady, then you may see said lovely purple reclining chair. Looks comfy doesn’t it? NOT!
