A couple of months ago, Dallan and I were in the kitchen getting ready to cook dinner when…
{Queue funeral march}
Oh the horror! Our favorite knife had succumbed to the rust demons (even after all of the pain we went through to hand wash it). Dallan was devastated! Fortunately, I knew better. Note to self: $10.00 Green Cleaning book was worth it.
INGREDIENTS
-
White Vinegar
-
Lemon
-
Baking Soda
DIRECTIONS
-
Mix equal parts of vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda.
-
Apply paste mixture to knife and let it sit for a couple of hours.
-
Rust should just wash off, if it doesn’t scrub knife with a toothbrush and paste.
Happy Cleaning,
Camberley
SCOURING SOLUTION:
Mix 3/4 Cup Baking Soda, 1 Tablespoon Dish Soap and just enough white vinegar to make a think/creamy mixture.
COUNTERTOP CLEANER:
Take a bottle and fill it half full with distilled water. Fill the other half of the bottle with white distilled vinegar. Start spraying!
AIR FRESHENER:
Freshen air in the bathroom by spraying into the air a solution of 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 tablespoon white distilled vinegar, and 1 cup water.

No, I’m not talking about dying ones head green. I’m talking about Green Hair Treatments. You see, someone in my household suffers from a little thing we like to call {whisper} Dandruff.
Now, don’t let the above picture fool you. Underneath that sexy hat is a thick head of curly, coarse hair (a.k.a. Brillo Pad, and Einstein)To sum it all up, when his hair gets too long – I call him Dale.
As in Dale from Stepbrothers.
(Dale’s the one on the right)
We are always looking for ways to combat the Dandruff Demons and I recently stumbled upon a few remedies we will be giving a try.
LEMONS
Apply 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice to your hair. Shampoo, then rinse with water. Rinse again with a mixture of 2 Tablespoons of lemon juice and 2 cups of water. Repeat every other day until dandruff disappears.
TEA TREE OIL
Measure out 1/4 cup of olive oil and place in a small container (use a container with a lid). Add 15 drops of tea tree oil. Cover and shake. Let mixture sit in a cool, dry place for a few hours. Next, massage oil into your scalp. Allow oil to sit in your scalp for at least an hour (you may even sleep with mixture in your hair). Once the oil has seeped into your scalp, rinse with shampoo and conditioner (you may need to rinse twice, or skip the conditioner). Repeat several times a week.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Mix 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar with 1/4 cup water. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle. Spritz vinegar solution on to your hair and scalp. Next, wrap your head in a towel. Allow mixture to sit in hair for 15 minutes to and hour. Remove towel and wash your hair. (Do this twice a week)
Next time you see Dallan, please don’t mention this post. He doesn’t read the blog that often, so I’m hoping he doesn’t see this. MUAHAHAHA.

CLEANING THE BATHTUB
Ingredients:
- Baking Soda
- Vinegar
Directions:
Make a paste (using two parts baking soda and one part vinegar). With a damp cloth, gently apply paste to built-up soap scum. Rinse with cold water
CLEANING THE TOILET
Instead of using bleach, try putting baking soda down the toilet bowl. Let stand for 5-10 minutes before flushing. (You may wipe down the toilet seat with a baking soda solution as well.)
FRAGRANT SINK CLEANER
Ingredients:
- 4 Tablespoons Baking Soda
- Liquid Soap
- Tea Tree Oil
- Lemon Oil
- Orange or Lavender Oil
Directions:
Place baking soda in a bowl with enough liquid soap to make a paste. Add a drop of tea tree oil, two drops of lemon oil, and two drops of orange or lavender oil.
