Sources closest to Poulsen, 31, say she’s an “Emotional Wreck” and “Scared” about going through with the surgery for 2 year old son, Grady!
Giggles. I was just reading US online and thought “why do they always quote celebrities like that?” And, “why do they have to put their ages next to their names? All. The. Time.” Weird.
Anyways, it’s happening. Mr. Potato throat is going to get those nasty tonsils out. No more Darth Vadar jokes, no more stinky breath, no more choking, no more sleep apnea and no more “What’d you say, mom?”. In addition to a nasty throat, poor Grady has had fluid in his ears for months and we just can’t get rid of it!
So, after $200 in co-pays and 3 specialists later – we are doing it. The same doctor who, 28 years ago, put tubes in Johnny’s ears will be doing the surgery. She will be removing Grady’s tonsils, adenoids and putting in ear tubes.
Here is a picture of G-Man. Obviously happy waiting to be seen by one of the 3 docs who’s name we won’t mentioned. We waited in this waiting room for 1.5 hours. This is also where I picked up my nasty cold/sinus infection that lasted 3+ weeks. Argh!
Everyday I have been writing down things I need to get done, even though the surgery is still two weeks away. I’m a planner. If the date is set for something, I have everything planned out ASAP! Clothes packed, snacks in little baggies, and usually an itinerary/list for the “babysitter”. I’m glad I have such supportive family members. Everyone has already stepped up and asked where they can help and believe you me, they will. Keighley, your guest room is already set up and ready for you! Ha Ha!
Right now, my list includes items like:
-
“Cami can take Trey to preschool Friday morning and pick up”
-
“Can Trey stay the night at G-Deb’s Thursday night?
-
“Who will be taking Trey to his Sat. am baseball game?”
Intense, right?
Oh, by the way, did I tell you that Grady has to stay overnight at Desert Banner Hospital? Yep.
Have I mentioned - when I asked if Grady will have his own room that night, they said they “we’re not sure, it depends on how crowded it is.”
Did I tell you – when I asked for a bed for Preggers Muah, they said, “oh will you be staying the night too?”. Duh! My son is 2. She then told me they have a recliner. Ah yes, the old recliner. My husband knows this chair all too well. He never slept in it while I had my babies. He’d go home to be a bit more comfy. Lucky me, I handled the first night with a newborn, alone. Sigh! I can’t wait to sleep on a nasty old leather recliner with my pregnant, uncomfortable self.
The sacrifices we mothers make.
If you can look past the beauty of my MIL and the adorableness of my newborn baby, Grady, then you may see said lovely purple reclining chair. Looks comfy doesn’t it? NOT!

Hello Bella Readers,
I know it has been several months since my last post. I apologize. This pregnancy has truly taken it’s toll on my energy level. I’m practically a zombie all day long. I do what I have to do and then I turn into a vegetable. I blame the heat. I’ve been hot for 6 months. Fall/Winter can not come to AZ faster. Because of these awful conditions my face has been paying for it. My acne is off the chain bad news right now. If I get a blemish it will not go away, it lingers and then discolors my face. It’s a sad story so I won’t continue on. I want to share with you something I found the other day while window shopping with my little dude. Yes, you can window shop in Arizona if you do it at Dana Point where there is an Anthropologie, Z Gallery, Philosophy, Bath and Body works, Apple store, etc. If there was a Gap this would be the best place on earth! As I walked by Philosophy they had some Samples of their new “facial Peel” to try. I took one, okay, I took two. I tried it a few nights ago. The two step facial peel was AMAZING! I have never felt anything like it before. After washing it off my face it didn’t feel like my own skin. For 3 days it has felt so smooth and soft and CLEAR! Well, a little more clear than it has in months. So refreshing, I can’t wait to use the peel again. Oh and I swear my huge brown spot looks a little smaller. Definitely going on my wish list. If you are near a Philosophy store go ask for a sample. Oh and DO NOT feel weird about asking for samples. Even if they snub you like they did me, they have tons of samples and that is what they are made for.
Happy Pampering!

PS. I’m back and refreshed and ready to post more so stay tuned. I have a good one coming soon!
This was the “recipe of the day” on Arizona Midday a few days ago. The Forgotten Cookie… should be just that… FORGOTTEN!
If I see something to eat, smell something to eat, think of something to eat… I WANT IT NOW! So, after watching them make this on TV and it looked soooooo yummy and sooooo easy, I decided why not. I’ll whip some up! I had all the ingredients after all.
I used my favorite find at Crate n Barrel to easily get the egg whites out! Love it. $2.50.
Directions for The Forgotten Cookies
2 large egg whites, room temperature
1/8 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (or almond extract if desired as substitution)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
(Or ½ cup chocolate chips and ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans as an option)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper or Silpat. (If you don’t have parchment paper or Silpat, lightly grease and flour baking sheets.) Beat egg whites, salt and sugar together until stiff peaks form. (This may take a little while, depending on the power of your mixer.) Fold in the vanilla or almond extract, chips and nuts. Drop by heaping teaspoonful onto lined cookie sheets. Place the cookies into the preheated oven, shut the door and count to 60. Turn the oven off immediately. DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR. Let cookies sit in the oven for 3 hours or overnight. Makes about 18-24 cookies.
It took about 15 minutes in my blender (on medium) to get the right consistency so don’t give up. It needs to be fluffy and white in color.
Warning… these are interesting. I had high expectations and I was VERY let down. Just being honest. They look really pretty. They sort of taste like marshmallows and then as you chew them, they become a little like taffy. Super easy to make though and not a lot of clean up.
Let me know what you think… if you make them. You may love them, who knows? I threw them away!
For those of us not on vacation, not taking our kids to school just yet, here is a fun craft you can do with your kiddos.
I hosted a Kids Craft and storytime at my house last week. The first idea for a craft that came to my mind was a Rain Stick. Probably because my kids and I have been wanting it to rain so bad for weeks now. With no such luck. The kids did such a good job and they loved the rainsticks. You should try it. Maybe if everyone in the Mesa/Phx area made one and did a rain dance, it will actually rain.
Here are the instructions and supplies. I basically made up my own but you get the idea.
Paper towel rolls
Cutin half or you could use toilet paper rolls. I would’ve used the whole roll but I had a lot of kids coming over.
Felt.
Cut into circles to fit over the top of the rolls with about an inch hanging over so I could hot glue them down. So no rice or pasta would fall out.
Yarn.
To wrap around the felt to close it off. It gives it a fun look. I used multicolored yarn.
Pasta, Rice, Popcorn kernals (the list goes on here)
Anything that is loud. I saw someone use nails but thought that may be dangerous.
Pom poms, paint, stickers, whatever you can think of to put onto your rain stick to give it some style.
Paints and paint brushes.
Hot glue gun.
After you close one side of the paper roll you hot glue your felt to close off the end. Pour about a tablespoon of rice, pasta, etc. into the roll.
Then close off the other side. Make sure it is all secure.
Now you can start to paint and decorate.
Have fun and let’s hope it brings the valley some much needed rain.
Here is Grady with his rainstick doing his raindance.
A cousin doing the perfect raindance! Go Kale!
Happy Rain Dancing!
